Viral Eating White Rice Is Called Trigger Diabetes, Doctor Explains Facts

Jakarta

Recently viral on social media, a post claimed that the sugar content in a bowl of fluffier white rice is the same as 2-3 tablespoons (tablespoons) of granulated sugar. He said white rice causes a bloated stomach and a number of diseases including diabetes.

“The solution? Stop eating white rice. This will solve many health problems that can arise from continued consumption of white rice,” wrote the upload.

“Whether you say that eating white rice has become ‘culture’ for us Indonesians or even if you want to ignore it, you will end up with diabetes, high cholesterol, fatty liver and central obesity if you don’t want to change.” He continued.

The doctor clarified, the content of white rice is not necessarily the same as sugar. Because there are still vitamins and minerals in white rice even if the amount is small. This means that as long as it is consumed in the right levels, white rice will not cause bloated stomachs and diabetes.

“Rice still contains vitamins and minerals even though it’s a little. White rice and sugar make you bloated if you consume it beyond your daily calorie requirement,” explained Dr. Andi Khomeini Takdir, an internal medicine specialist at Junior Doctor Network Indonesia when contacted by detik.com on Friday (30/12/2022).

In fact, white rice is not classified as a health food. However, as long as the intake is not excessive and accompanied by physical activity, the consumption of white rice will not cause a bloated stomach and diseases such as diabetes.

Diabetes or diabetes is one of the “silent killer” diseases that are difficult to treat. Initially, this chronic disease causes no significant complaints for some people. However, the signs of diabetes will get worse if the condition is serious or causing complications.

As for mundane habits like smoking, lack of sleep, lack of breakfast, lack of sleep and lifestyle of a person who is less mobile and spends more time sitting are actually triggers of diabetes.

Quoted from Mayo Clinic, type 1 diabetes is most associated with a history of similar diseases in the family. Unlike type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes is more associated with an unhealthy lifestyle.
