In harsh winter conditions and without the aid of a helicopter, rescue teams carried an injured tourist down from Mount Kalin to Rila in their hands. The man has injuries to his left leg.
Rescuers were alerted today around noon. The man fell in the area of Mount Kalin, in the direction of the “Ivan Vazov” refuge, at over 2,300 meters above sea level.
“The action started at 12:00, the terrain is difficult, at the moment we are at the “Kidney” lake, for a short rest. We hope that the ATV will reach us, it will make things much easier for us. Otherwise, we continue from carry on our hands,” Bozhidar Jokin of the Dupnitsa mountain rescue service told BTA.
The distance to the lift station is more than an hour. From the “Laghi di Rila” refuge, the man will be taken to the ground by cable car.

The victim has a fractured ankle and knee injuries to his left leg. She is 28 years old, she is from Sofia.
This is the third consecutive heavy rescue operation of Dupnitsa mountain rescuers during weekends.
