125 years of music that fit in a book

The Cullera Musical Athenaeum Society has condensed into a book “125 years making music”. The volume includes an appendix to the centennial book that tells the story of the entity over the past 25 years. The president of the Society, Armand Calatayud; Ferran Sanz, official chronicler of the entity and author of the book; and Judge Joaquim Bosch, author of the prologue.

On the occasion of the institution’s centenary, a first book was published in 1996. Now, 26 years later, this appendix explains everything that society lives from the previous publication to 2021, the directors who have crossed the bands and the numerous awards won by the institution. The Cullera Ateneo Musical Society was founded in 1895, as the new book points out. The discovery of a notarial deed allows us to confirm the exact day of foundation of the Company, 18 June 1895, i.e.n year before what was considered the creation date.

Since then the company it hasn’t stopped growing: It has several groups, in addition to the music school. Despite being 125 years old, the University continues to modernize in order to stay a point of reference in the Valencian, Spanish and world music scene.

The making of the book was possible thanks to the notable contribution of the Municipality of Cullera, present at the event through the Mayor, Jordi Mayor, the Councilor for Culture, Sílvia Andrés, and the Councilor for Music, Juan Carlos Alandete. The presentation was also attended by Concepción Tello, Feliciano Falcó, Francisco Carrascosa and Juan Palomares, who were presidents of the company in the years covered by the book.
