Pele died on December 29, 2022 at the age of 82. The cause of death was multiple organ failure due to advanced colon cancer.

Pelé is the only footballer in history to have won three World Cups (in 1958, 1962 and 1970). In 92 matches for the Brazilian national team, he scored 77 goals. He spent most of his career at Santos, from 1956 to 1974.
