Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Principality of Mecca region and the Saudi National Center of Meteorology have confirmed the inaccuracy of the video circulating on social networks of snowfall on the Kaaba and the Grand Mosque, in light of the rains in the Kingdom.
And the Emirate of Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region posted a copy of the circulating video on its Twitter account, commenting that it was “wrong and treated with additional effects”.
The official spokesman of the National Meteorological Center, Hussein Al-Qahtani, posted the circulating video, stating, via his Twitter account, that the circulating video of the snowfall over the Grand Mosque is incorrect and is being treated with further effects.
The Crisis and Disaster Management Center in Mecca Emirate has urged everyone to exercise caution and avoid torrential rains and water gathering areas as governorates in the region have been exposed to a rainy state this week.
Turning to Monday’s weather, the National Meteorological Center expects the opportunity is still ripe for moderate to severe thunderstorms accompanied by brisk winds and hail showers, leading to torrential rain in some regions of Asir, Al- Baha, Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Medina, which extend to parts of Al-Qassim, Hail, Tabuk, Al Jawf regions and the northern border.
The center added that the opportunity is ripe for thunderstorms accompanied by active winds in parts of Riyadh and eastern regions as well as parts of Najran and Jizan, and it is not excluded that snow will fall on the heights of the Tabuk region (Alaqan – Al Dhaher – Jabal Al Lawz) is the northern periphery of the Kingdom, according to Saudi news agency.
