Romjula was characterized by storms, roadside difficulties and closed mountain passes.
When the first week of the year kicks off, it won’t be too bad. At least the first few days.
– Till Wednesday it is mostly fine and stay in Southern Norway, while there will be precipitation in Northern Norway. Then it changes to dry weather in the north and precipitation in the south, shift meteorologist Lillian Bergheim tells StormGeo on TV 2.
One day it will be fine
In Northern Norway, the week starts with a small low outside of Troms and Finnmark which will affect Monday.
– There will be mainly a stay in the inner regions of Northern Norway with sleet and snow showers in the outer regions, says Bergheim.
The precipitation will remain mostly in the outer areas of Troms and Finnmark, but there will also be some showers along the Nordland coast.
– While both Trøndelag, Western Norway and large parts of Eastern Norway will have fairly fine weather on Monday with mostly dry and sunny weather.
The meteorologist says the exceptions are Rogaland and Agder. There may be sleet and snowfall here.
– Tuesday looks very good for much of the country. The weather will be persistent in much of Nordland and southern Norway.
In Troms and Finnmark, however, there will still be some snow, according to the meteorologist.
Strong low pressure coming
As it looks now, high pressure will stabilize over Northern Norway on Wednesday.
– So Wednesday, Thursday and Friday it will be mostly dry weather in the north and probably also in central Norway, says Bergeim.
For southern Norway, uncertain forecast south of Stad and Dovre due to the path of an incoming low pressure.
– There is a fairly strong low pressure, which may cause some snow on Wednesday and Thursday with increasing southeasterly winds. But who gets the most rainfall is uncertain.
On Sunday, forecasts show that southern Norway will receive the most rainfall, where 20 to 50 millimeters of rain can fall on Wednesday and Thursday.
– There may be a danger warning or two by the time we get to Wednesday, as there could be large amounts of rain, Bergheim says.
