The new year 2023 opens with sad news from Sukabumi tour. Two tourists died after attending the Family Gathering event held in Situ Gunung.
Two tourists died after drowning in Situ Gunung, Sukabumi regency on Sunday (1/1/2023). The two victims were named Nandi Supriatbna (21) and Bhentar Hutanagara (28).
Sukabumi City Police Chief AKBP SY Zainal Abidin said Nandi died in hospital after receiving treatment. Meanwhile, Bhentar was found dead by drowning. His body was found about three hours after the accident.
“We conducted a search at 3pm WIB. Thank God, one and a half hours of searching for BH’s brother (Bhentar) could be found and he is currently being taken to hospital for medical treatment,” Zainal told detikjabarSunday (1/1/2023).
Zainal said the victims were employees of a restaurant in Sukabumi city. During the 2023 New Year holidays, they held a family reunion and tour in Situ Gunung.
“They played ball in the morning, because their bodies were dirty, they took the initiative to get on a boat to the lake with the intention of cleaning themselves,” she said.
After the event, one of the victims, namely Nandi, threw herself into the lake which is located on the slopes of Mount Gede Pangrango and is about 16 km from the center of Sukabumi. Because she couldn’t swim, Nandi eventually drowned. At that time Bhentar and Elvi tried to help Nandi.
After a while, Nandi and Elvi were found, but Bhentar disappeared, it was suspected that he was attracted to the seaweed and drowned in the lake. Currently Elvi is still being treated in the hospital.
“Today two victims died in Situ Gunung Lake. Chronologically at around 12:30 WIB received a report from Kadudampit Police Chief as Chief of Situ Gunung Service that one person was still wanted,” Zainal said.
