Pele’s sister has revealed that her mother is unaware of the news of the world football legend’s death. She was not told that her son had died of cancer.
Celeste, 100, is cared for by Pele’s sister, who has not been told that her son, the famous footballer, had died of colon cancer.
And press reports have pointed out that Pele’s mother’s house is on the road that funeral organizers had planned before the football legend was buried.
Pele’s sister Maria said in an interview: We talk together, but she doesn’t know the situation, she’s in her world.
She added: He opens his eyes when I mention his name and says, “We’ll pray for him,” but he doesn’t really understand what I’m saying.
Pele died at the age of “82” at the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo on December 28 after a long battle with colon cancer.
Pele’s mother celebrated her 100th birthday last month and Pele congratulated her on his Instagram account.
Pele will be buried on Tuesday in a 14-story cemetery in downtown Santos, the place where he played most of his matches, and will be transferred from the hospital where he died to Santos’ Villa Belmero stadium, so fans can say farewell to the legend.
