The young representatives were extremely focused in their pursuit of success in their fourth appearance at the tournament. Špaček is responsible for using the very first power play, who heads over Quapp’s concrete. From then on, the Czech team took control of the action on the ice, outscoring the young Germans 19:7 in the first half. The opposing goalkeeper caught both Sapousek and Měchura but was helpless against Szturc’s deft mixing with the puck.
Coach Radim Rulík’s men had the upper hand, beating the Germans with hockey speed and intelligence. In the middle of the match, the opponent replaced the goalkeeper and Wolf hadn’t even got a minute when Chmelař fired at him after Brabenac’s backside. In the second half, the opponent only made two shots on the Czech goal, but after a special rebound Oswald sent the puck inside.
However, it continued according to Czech sheet music. Just 47 seconds separated the reps’ next two goals at the end of the second half. First Ryšavý, the last striker who hadn’t scored a point yet, left his mark with a shot, and immediately after the next substitution, Hauser scored, whose finish from an almost zero corner was hit into his own goal by the goalkeeper Wolf.
In the third period the Germans had visibly heavy legs, they gave up their offensive appetites or all attacks and were already thinking only of defending themselves. However, they have not blocked multiple shots on target in a span of 29 seconds. Chmelař performed it again, and after that Kos scored for the first time in the tournament.
Unscathed, the young Czechs survived two weakenings in rapid succession, on the contrary, Měchura hit the crossbar from the stop. In the end, the reps bombarded Germany with 54 shots, Ticháček’s escape closing the score, setting up the highest Czech victory over this opponent at the championship in 20 years since 1998.
