In their last game in group B, the U20 hockey representatives from Leuven lost to Switzerland 3:4 after raids and missed the chance to win the group. Ivan Feneš’s men will certainly not finish worse than third place in the standings, and if they finish one position higher, only the match between Finland and the USA (22.00 CET) will decide.

In the standings, the Slovakian team collected a total of seven points for triumphs over the USA 6:3 and Latvia 3:0, lost to Finland 2:5.
Gajan scored the first difficult save in the 3rd minute, after which the Slovaks also took the lead. They opened the scoring in the 5th minute, when Sýkora passed the puck across the midfield, flicked it to the rear, where he skated it, then sent the puck over the goal line twice. Müller could have equalised, but only hit the post. Gajan then distinguished himself with Biasco’s shot. Goalkeeper Pasche also spoke and made several good saves.
Helvét managed to equalize right at the beginning of the second period, when Reichle exactly finished the renumbering. The young Slovaks could have equalized after action from Dej and Mišiak, but the puck didn’t land on goal and Mešár didn’t manage to attack seconds later either. Two great chances by Repčík and Dvorský also didn’t end in a goal. The Swiss then threatened each other several times, but Kmec didn’t take advantage of another opportunity immediately afterwards. However, in the 38th minute, after the action of Mešár and L. Nemec, Petrovský scored with precision and the same trio signed the third goal, scored 49 seconds later.
The Swiss also got off to a great start in the third period, after two minutes Ramel reduced the score to 2:3. This goal gave them a kick, they had good movement and used the momentum of the match in the 49th minute thanks to Canonic, who equalized in a power play to make it 3:3. The Slovaks then improved their game, in the end they applied a lot of pressure, but the hoped-for goal didn’t come.
In extra time, Bichsel could have decided, taking the puck from Petrovský, but Gajan made an excellent shot. The Swiss were also close to deciding in the power play, but in the end the resolution came only in the raids, in which Dionicio decided.
