Everyone already knows that they have to get vaccinated against the flu every year, during campaigns promoted by the federal government. At the end of September, the WHO – World Health Organization – sent countries the recommendation to make immunizers for 2023, taking into account the studies that analyze the types of flu viruses most circulating in the world.
The director of the Brazilian Society of Vaccinations, Flávia Barros, explains that in addition to the flu virus producing mutations and our body needs new vaccines to prevent infections, the protection time of the flu vaccine is short. Precisely for this reason Flávia underlines that it is very important to go to the posts every year and receive the immunizers.
Flávia Barros also explains why the influenza and covid-19 viruses need vaccine boosters while others, such as measles and rubella, have guaranteed protection with just a few doses.
In October, Anvisa published the composition of the new flu vaccines. The campaign must take place between April and June 2023, following a specific timetable.
