During 2022, the Madiun City Health Bureau recorded 209 cases of dengue fever

Madiun (ANTARA) – The Madiun City Office of Health, Population Control and Family Planning reported 209 cases of dengue fever from January to December 2022 in the local area.

“As of the end of this year, there were 209 cases of dengue fever, of which two cases died,” said the head of the Madiun City Bureau of Health, Population Control and Family Planning, the Dr. Denik Wuryani in Madiun on Saturday.

According to him, as we enter the rainy season, dengue cases in Madiun city have started to show an upward trend. Therefore, people are asked to be aware of the threat of dengue fever caused by the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.

According to the data, in December alone, 11 residents of Madiun city were found to be suffering from DHF. Compared to last year, there are more cases of dengue fever in 2022.

“The weather, which sometimes rains and doesn’t rain, makes mosquitoes breed faster,” she said.

Furthermore, Denik explained, of the 209 dengue sufferers this year, most were from children between the ages of 5 and 14. With a total of 114 cases and two deaths.

So, there were 71 cases between the ages of 15 and 44, between the ages of 1 and 4 there were 12 cases, patients between the ages of 45 and over 10 cases, and under one year there were two cases.

For this reason, Denik has called on the public to implement mosquito nest elimination with 3M plus. Namely, draining and closing water tanks, using used goods and cleaning up the surroundings.

“If a family member has a fever, take them to the nearest health facility immediately,” he added.

He added that the PPKB health bureau team will step up monitoring in areas prone to DHF. In addition to “fogging” or fumigation in the case search areas, the ongoing larval monitoring program (jumantik) is also continuously optimized.

“All areas in Madiun City have potential. We have made efforts. So, we hope that the community will also take care of each other’s environments,” he said.
