The UK will require all travelers from China to prove they have tested negative for the new coronavirus. The Times reports it, citing government officials.
According to The Times, Prime Minister Sunak intervened and ordered a mandatory negative test. In addition to presenting a negative certificate, up to one in five Chinese travelers will be tested for coronavirus upon arrival. It is said to be used to conduct genome analysis needed to track down mutant strains of the crown.
France will also require air travelers from China to show negative proof of the virus upon boarding at their point of origin, officials said. Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport will also carry out a randomized PCR test on arrivals from China from January 1st.
Previously, Spain and Italy also announced entry restrictions for passengers arriving from China related to the novel coronavirus.
