On December 25, Epic Games offered the Death Stranding game on its PC digital store, but initially mistakenly offered the Director’s Cut version of the game.
The plan to present Hideo Kojima’s game as a Christmas present for players caused confusion as the Director’s Cut was removed from the store to prevent more people from being able to redeem the freebie.
In view of this, the company decided to apologize to customers and explained that due to an internal error, the wrong version was selected to be activated as the Deal of the Day, in its year-end deals campaign.
The agreement with 505 Games, publisher of the PC version of the game by Hideo Kojima and his Kojima Productions, did not allow to offer the Director’s Cut version and Epic Games explained it.
The plan was to offer customers the basic version of Death Stranding and not the version that comes with lots of new content and gameplay refinements.
