The Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr is apparently in a big shopping spree. In addition to Cristiano Ronaldo, the inclusion of a second star player is expected.
There has been speculation for weeks that it should finally be fixed on January 1st. Cristiano Ronaldo will sign a contract with Saudi heir Mohammed bin Salman’s club until 2030. The Portuguese, currently without a club, will initially play for Al-Nassr for two-and-a-half years, after which he will act as an ambassador for Saudi Arabia’s joint bid at the World Cup with Egypt and Greece. According to “Marca”, the spectacular change should be made official on January 1, and Ronaldo expects a salary of 70 million euros. With image rights, this could grow to 195 million euros a year.
Besides Ronaldo, also Ramos?
According to the report, the Saudi club is far from finalizing its transfer plans. Instead, Al-Nassr is considering bringing another soccer star to Riyadh: Sergio Ramos, Ronaldo’s longtime teammate at Real Madrid.
The now 36-year-old Spaniard is currently under contract with the French sheikh’s club Paris St.-Germain, which is financed by Qatar. But that expires next summer. Al-Nassr are said to be one of a number of clubs looking to sign the tough defender. In the coming days, a club delegation will travel to Madrid to negotiate a possible transfer with Ramos’ confidants.
But the Ronaldo change is more important. Al-Nassr has already booked accommodation for the Portuguese and his agent. Following his scandalous interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, the 37-year-old’s contract with Manchester United, which originally ran until the summer, was terminated prematurely. Since then, the five-time world footballer has been without a team.
