Premium smartphones aren’t just big hardware bombs. Style also matters a lot. This makes perfect sense. After all, if we’re spending that much money on gear, it has to be beautiful. That said, the Galaxy S24 is likely to be the best-designed smartphone ever. That’s because the Korean giant went looking for Hubert H. Lee, the former head of design at Mercedes-Benz China. Mercedes is, of course, a well-known brand for luxury cars in recent decades, and Hubert H. Lee himself spent 20 years designing for the company.
Galaxy S24 will probably have the best design ever
However, this doesn’t happen by accident. In early 2022, Samsung released a limited edition of Galaxy S22 Ultra, themed Mercedes, which was apparently exclusive to South Korea, as we haven’t seen the model appear anywhere in the Western Hemisphere. It was most likely here that Samsung and Hubert H. Lee struck up conversations that ultimately led to this new partnership.
The former head of design at Mercedes will assume the position of Executive Vice President and Head of MX (Mobile eXperience) at Samsung. It’s safe to assume that the upcoming Galaxy S23 won’t have the new little finger in charge just yet. This is because we are already very close to the release date and probably all the details are already defined.
However, we may get a major redesign for the Galaxy S24 range next year. And, who knows, maybe some changes to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5?
This makes sense at a time when smartphones are very similar and in fact what changes the most is the rear camera module. We’ll see if the new design is well received by everyone. After all, users don’t always take the changes well. Even so, and given the experience of the new manager, we should have a very interesting final product.
