Arrest of nine doctors in the “Al Nafaa” file: falsified health certificates!

Following the corruption case in the Al-Nafia file, several doctors were arrested in this case, whose investigations are still expanding. According to Al-Modon’s sources, Mount Lebanon’s appellate prosecutor, Judge Nazik Al-Khatib, arrested nine doctors this evening, Thursday, December 29, after which they were referred to the investigating judge, Judge Nicolas Mansour, after the holidays .

After the leaks that took place in the Al-Nafah cave about a month and a half ago, there is great secrecy surrounding the ongoing investigation. However, “Al-Modon” learned that some of the ex-detainees confessed that they were obtaining a “medical certificate” from the doctors, to complete the processing of driving books.
Nafaa’s file in Al-Awzai Police Station saw the arrest of most of the employees of the local traffic authority. At the time, senior employees were found to be involved in “selling” driver’s licenses to people without them attending the utility and taking their driving test. He then recounted hundreds of guidance books that were granted this way.

The Al-Nafia arrests led to the closure of the Ouzai Authority for the arrest of employees, especially the car registration department, after the arrest of ten employees and the head of the center, B. A, for his involvement in the case of counterfeit driving licences. Preliminary investigations revealed at the time that the market books were granted even without the applicant going to the specialist doctor, to obtain a medical declaration proving his suitability and that he was free from pathologies that prevented him from obtaining the book. Rather, medical certificates were purchased. As the investigation expanded, the names of doctors making medical statements appeared randomly. Al-Khatib arrested nine tonight.

According to sources, there are doctors who have issued medical certificates to mediators and commentators without the presence of the interested parties in exchange for financial compensation. However, there are doctors who have done it in “good faith” for their acquaintances, as usually happens in Lebanon, and not with the aim of selling health certificates.

The sources underlined that the case that goes in this direction will reshuffle the cards in the Nafaa case, especially in the event that the Syndicate of Doctors decides to take escalating measures to defend the doctors, even if the behavior of some of them is unprofessional and it does not take into account professional ethics.
