Eight residential units are uninhabitable after a row house fire in Drøbak on Friday night. No one was injured in the fire.
– Crews reported at 6.05am that they are in control of the scene and that the subsequent shutdown is underway, shift manager Leif Høyland at 110 Central East told NTB.
According to operations director Svein Walle, eight housing units were destroyed in the fire.
– To date, eight residential units are uninhabitable. A total of seven residents are registered, but they are municipal housing, so Frogn council has a better overview, Walle told NTB just before 8 on Friday morning.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at around 4:30am on Friday. There were open flames at the scene.
– It was a busy extinguishing job because we spent quite a bit of time panning and getting all the people out of the apartments. There were a lot of firefighters on the scene, so we were able to put out the fire before everything caught fire, Lars Even Andersen of the Follo Fire Department tells NTB.
No one was injured in the fire and all residents were quickly rescued. However, that didn’t go as well with the townhouse apartments.
– There are maybe two apartments that weren’t damaged by fire, but all were damaged by smoke and water.
Due to the heavy smoke, five or six neighbors were also evacuated. The terraced house is located in the residential area of Skorkeberg, a couple of kilometers outside the center of Drøbak.
