The government guarantees the sale of fuel oil (BBM extension) type prize discontinued and will no longer be on the market from 1 January 2023.
This new rule is contained in the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 245.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2022 concerning Amendments to the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 62.K/12/ MEM/2020 relating to the basic price formula in the calculation of sales prices Types of retail fuel Types of petrol and diesel distributed through service stations and/or fishermen’s service stations.
“That the standard and quality (specification) of domestically marketed RON 88 petrol fuel has been declared null and void as of January 1, 2023,” the letter a wrote of the decision.
RON 88 is a type of fuel sold by Pertamina petrol stations. The public knows the type of BBM RON 88 with the premium name.
The premium will be abolished from 2023 because fuel below 90 RON is considered inappropriate or dirty. Therefore, the fuel that will be sold in the future will only be with an octane rating of 90 or higher.
In other words, private gas stations that sell fuel with RON below 90 are also prohibited. This has an impact on Vivo gas stations that sell RON 89 fuel under the name Revvo 89.
Furthermore, in this regulation the government also regulates the basic formula for calculating fuel prices starting from the premium type. However, the premium price calculation is only valid until the end of 2022 and will no longer exist from next year.
“The basic price formula for the RON 89 type of General Fuel Oil, as indicated in the annex which is an integral part of this ministerial decree, is valid until December 31, 2022,” reads the decree.
