The referee of the World Cup final in Qatar reveals a mistake he made

Polish referee Simon Marciniak, referee of the 2022 World Cup final, responded to the attack he had received since the France-Argentina match, which ended in favor of the Argentina national team.

Marciniak commented on the allegations received in recent days, during a press conference held in Poland, in which he said: “The French didn’t mention shooting on goal for their national team, as we see that there were 7 French players on the pitch when Mbappe scored a penalty at the end of the match”.

He continued: “Also, in Randall Colo’s missed chance late in the game, there were many substitutes who came on, but nobody talks about it.”

And he admitted to making a mistake that cost the French at one point, saying: “Of course, there were mistakes in the final game.”

He explained that among those errors was that he had stopped the “French counter-attack after a bad intervention by Argentine Marcos Acuna”, adding: “I was afraid that the wrong player wanted to relax, and I read it incorrectly because it is not nothing happened, and you can give a lead and then come back with a card.
