Prime Minister Han Deok-soo said at a meeting of the Corona 19 Security and Disaster Countermeasures Central Headquarters chaired today at the Seoul Government Complex (30), “The government will inevitably strengthen some quarantine measures to prevent domestic spread due to the worsening situation in China,” he said.
Prime Minister Han said, “(In China), boarding a domestic flight is only possible if the negative is confirmed through a PCR (genetic amplification) test within 48 hours or a rapid antigen test within 24 hours before the entry into the country”.
In addition, he said, “we will block the community spread as much as possible by conducting as essential a PCR test as possible within a day of entering the country.”
However, we plan to allow exceptional measures for Koreans who need to enter the country for urgent reasons.
Prime Minister Han also explained, “We will temporarily suspend further flights from China and merge flights from China to arrive at Incheon Airport for efficient quarantine management of inbound travelers.”
The government plans to limit the issuance of short-term visas until the end of next month, excluding those for diplomatic/official business, essential business and humanitarian reasons.
Regarding the lifting of the requirement to wear masks indoors, Prime Minister Han also said, “If external circumstances lead to a domestic broadcast, we will fully listen to the expert opinions and decide on the planned adjustment of the requirements of indoor masks “.
