The reason why WhatsApp can no longer be used on old mobiles
Reported by Metro, On Tuesday (12/27/2022), there were 47 old mobile phone models, such as Apple, Samsung and Huawei, which were affected by the WhatsApp application shutdown.
Also, dozens of these devices may not have the latest security updates or may not have the necessary features to run WhatsApp.
If possible, you can update the operating system on your old device and continue using WhatsApp as usual.
“Devices and software change frequently, so we regularly review which operating systems we support and make updates,” WhatsApp said.
WhatsApp said it would review and verify which old-school software was still operational every year.
Likewise with devices that are used at least by today’s society.
“To choose what to discontinue support for, every year we, like other technology companies, look at which devices and software are the oldest and have the fewest people still using them,” WhatsApp said.
Alternatively, if your device cannot be updated to the latest version of the operating system, you will need to purchase a newer phone.
