OR Botafogoled by shareholder John Textor, dreams of removing the runway from Athletics Do Nilton Santos Stadium and bring the bleachers closer to the pitch. However, after the cheating and a lot of politics involved, nothing has moved forward. According to the blog Panorama Esportivo, from “O Globo”, the equipment will remain in place, at least until further notice.
Little fan of the Olympic stadium model, John Textor initially wanted to build another one for Botafogo, but was turned away from the idea by mayor Eduardo Paes, for whom the club had better keep the concession.
Paes was even in favor of moving the track to another location, but Alerj and the Brazilian Athletics Confederation (CBAt) opposite. The runway flip was also proposed, it just didn’t go ahead.
Despite initial conversations, including with the club, nothing has moved forward. And the scenario remains unchanged, with the athletic track, almost never used, remaining at Nilton Santos.
