Le Prix du Sang was first published in 1994 by the Dargaud publishing house. The ninth album in the “The Youth of Blueberry” series, it formed a diptych with the previous volume, Three Men for Atlanta. It was also the last comic in Blueberry’s juvenile cycle with New Zealand cartoonist Colin Wilson, whose style is darker, darker and more disturbing at times than ever before.
Our opinion
La Jeunesse de Blueberry Le prix du sang François Corteggiani and Colin Wilson remains an interesting album even if it doesn’t have the depth of the stories of Gir and if the hero is a little more flowing than the original, but it has the merit of bringing the series to life. The Price of Blood is Blueberry’s ninth youthful album that closes the Atlanta cycle. The lieutenant and his companions plan to attack a Confederate warehouse. They settle on a plantation occupied by women, neither stupid nor weak. François Corteggiani is gaining momentum and signs a more controlled scenario. Colin Wilson continues to draw, in a respectful style of Jean Giraud. It is also his partner Janet Gale, who offers us magnificent colors in this very successful album.

Continuation of the previous episode… The Earp brothers and their comrades in arms therefore find themselves facing the Clanton gang, at the OK Corral, one of the most famous duels in the history of the West! Mike, for his part, prevents in extremis Johnny Ringo, completely mad with his visions, from killing the beautiful Golden… But it’s not completely over… the city is on fire after the speeches accusing the Earp brothers having concocted everything, Campbell ends up getting the end of Blueberry’s story and the bullets keep flying.
Our opinion
Dust was published in 2005 by Dargaud. With its 68 plates it is the longest volume of the series. It puts an end to the “Mister Blueberry” cycle as well as the central trunk of the collection (as well as the epilogue entitled Apaches). Probably aware that this volume served as a conclusion, Jean Giraud made an effort to link its plot to that of the first album, Fort Navajo. The frame of this cycle is characterized by a circularity. The first episode (Mister Blueberry) opens with the arrival of journalist Campbell in the West. The last one begins with his departure. And if Blueberry was shown playing poker at a Dunhill table in the first one, we leave him here in the same spot where he’s about to start a new game

Our opinion
Atlanta is an important city in the camp of the southerners, General Sherman therefore authorizes Blueberry to go there with his friends, Grayson and Homer, to try to recover the plans of the fortifications and trenches, to better evaluate the possibility for the Northerners to attack! Blueberry also has other objectives, she wants to find Bowman who has taken refuge in Atlanta… But penetrating a city entirely occupied by the enemy isn’t easy!
