With the snow falling.. What is the real image of Jabal Al-Lawz in Saudi Arabia?

Coinciding with the snowfall in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in recent days, social media pages and accounts have circulated an image of a snow-capped mountain, which was allegedly taken recently in Saudi Arabia.

But this photo was actually taken in New Zealand.

The image shows a road leading up to a snow-capped mountain, its editors said was taken in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, while publications specified the visible mountain is Jabal Al-Lawz in Tabuk.

The release of this image came after regions of Saudi Arabia had already witnessed snowfall, including Jabal Al-Lawz in the kingdom’s northwest, local media reported.

photographic reality

However, the circulated image was not taken in Saudi Arabia, as searches on search engines showed it had been posted, among other images from different angles, on a photographer’s website, which he said was from Mount Ruapehu , located in New Zealand.

The same photo can be found posted to her Instagram last March.

Mount Ruapehu is the largest and most active of several volcanic centers located on New Zealand’s North Island.
