He’s in the final four and can’t wait to do it. This Wednesday night, Manon Garcia won a long showdown against Léa Tholey. After this, it was difficult to separate the two women whose complicity had already appeared on the field, during some interminable or improbable exchanges. But when the match referee sealed the victory of Tremblaysienne, seeded number 1 of the tournament, in straight sets (6-4, 6-4), the two players exchanged long minutes on court number 1 of the stadium League.
When asked about her success, the 30-year-old, first in the 2022 CNGT (National Circuit of Grand Tournaments) ranking, inevitably didn’t boast: “You don’t play a lot. A break in the first set. And several others, shared, in the second”, analyzed the thirty-year-old, after more than an hour and a half of effort.
It must be said that Garcia, of Spanish descent but no family connection with ATP Carolina, likes long lines. And in his record, he ended up sucking his opponent: “What I like is the variation. Risking, I like it less”, details the one who refuses the status of favorite of the tournament, challenging Camille Moga (see opposite) this afternoon, for a place in the final, potentially her fourth in Chartres. “It’s a nice opposition of style in perspective Camille is a very offensive player”, warns Garcia who currently occupies her best French ranking (n° 19), eager to play since she has only played one CNGT since September, in Caen, with a semi-final at stake.
Gravouil on a bad day
She arrived in Chartres but without her tennis. Irritated by the first exchanges against Camille Moga (n°52), the member of the Yonnaise Entente, finalist of the tournament in 2015 against Irina Ramialison, unrecognizable, lost as soon as she entered the tournament (6-2, 6-4) .
