“Christmas nuts” with Oystein Bache (62) and Rune Gokstad (64) is a meeting point for many families at Christmas. The show, which has been on the air since 1992, is a regular Christmas tradition.
The duo took over in 2011 after Roald Øyen he had led the traditional NRK program since its inception in the early nineties.
– Our wives rarely see each other
While Bache and Gokstad have been leading the family program for 11 years, they also have several partnerships to look forward to. Both have had a longer working relationship at NRK, and are perhaps particularly known from comedy programs such as ‘Egentlig’, ‘Øystein og meg’ and the travel series ‘Team Bachstad’.
Rune Gokstad was also awarded the Leonard statuette in 2010, the year before they took on the honorable mission of getting Norwegians safely through Space Christmas.
In a new interview with the website clickthey open up about their friendship and say that perhaps they’ve seen more of the world together than the women they’re actually married to.
He studied law and criminology
Although they have conducted many travel programs, where they have been shown the nooks and crannies of the world, there is still one place they have not done a feature on yet, due to family circumstances.
Sharing cryptic messages
– I would really like to do a broadcast from Rome, but we can’t do it because Rune hasn’t been there yet with his wife. So we have to wait until they’ve been there, Øystein laughs.
Even though the partnerships span several decades, the friendship extends even further. Their paths have already crossed during their studies, where neither of them had planned a training or professional path in show business.
They studied criminology and law, but it wasn’t until they started working together at the student magazine that they instead chose to pursue careers in media and entertainmentaging.
Then things went from bad to worse for the duo, who then started TV shows like ‘Egentlig’, ‘Øystein og meg’, ‘Akkkurat na’ and ‘Den store klassefesten’.
I haven’t argued for 40 years
Though they can now celebrate four decades as close friends, they admit they’ve never run out of topics to talk about and their friendship hasn’t been marked by any particular conflicts.
I disagree: – You have to deal with this
– You can count them on the fingers of one hand. We have never become hostile. We’ve been in situations where we didn’t agree and had different points of view. It’s usually in stressful situations where we’ve traveled, but we give up before it becomes a bad atmosphere, Gokstad points out.
– Because as a rule Rune realizes he is wrong, Øystein jokes.
