On social networks, they show a video of a frozen restaurant and ensure that it is from Seattle, in the western United States.
But it’s taken out of context, the logging is actually from an establishment called Hoak’s in Hamburg, New York, on the shores of Lake Erie and in the east of the country.
“34 people killed by snowfall in the United States. SEATTLE,” says one of the tweets with the misplaced video, which already racks up more than 15,000 views.
“All of Seattle is covered in ice”mentioned another tweet with the same video.
The recording in which the ravages of the winter storm and the low temperatures in Hamburg are observed was spread on Facebook on December 24 by local supervisor, Randy Hoak, and later picked up by outlets such as NBC News, The Guardian and in Mexico the chain Television.
It shows how Hoak’s restaurant was frozen, whose owner gave dessert interviews about what happened.
What is true is that there have been deaths in the US due to inclement weather.
According to CNN, Until this Tuesday, December 27, there was a record of at least 56 dead from the winter storm that hits the US later this year.
31 of the deaths, according to the chain, were recorded in Erie County, New York.
Videos and photographs show the impact of weather conditions, anyway, and in conclusion: The frozen restaurant video is made in upstate New York, not Seattle, as network accounts point out.
