The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, reported in his morning conference that the Riviera Maya will have an Ecological Park called “El Manglar” next to the El Cid hotel, located in Puerto Morelos.

“The hotel entrepreneur Julio Berdegué bought land from (Hotel) Cid, when the development of the Riviera Maya began, and told his sons that 500 hectares of mangroves should be reserved for a natural park; And now the children have come to me to tell me that they want to donate that land, which is in a fund for a natural park,” said López Obrador.

The original project of “El Cid” in Puerto Morelos, envisaged a residential development in over 60% of the property which is mostly mangroves, however, over the years, only the two beach front hotels and its marina , the rest of the project remained in “stand by”. El Cid in the Pacific is an established development as a residential, hotel and port area.
