FREDRIKSTAD: Police received a report at 09:12 Wednesday that two buses had collided on the bridge in Fredrikstad.

A “powerful” collision.

– There are passengers on board both buses. It reports that two people are seriously injured. First aid is underway at the scene, Ormaasen said at 09.45am.

All emergency services responded.

Life-saving first aid was performed on at least one person at the scene, shift manager Roger Andersen at the 110 dispatch shortly before 10 a.m. told VG.

He called the crash a “powerful” collision and a serious accident.

– We are releasing a patient, Andersen told VG before 10.

In addition, firefighters are working to secure the scene of the accident.

Closed in both directions

The accident occurred near the Fredrikstad bridge along the highway 110.

Operations director Ormaasen says he has not received any information about the difficult driving conditions.

– At the moment it is too early to say anything about the cause of the accident, but we are carrying out routine investigations on the spot, he says.

Vegtrafikksentralen says the road is closed in both directions.

– The road will be closed for a long time to come and traffic will be diverted until then, says Ormaasen.

The recommended detour is Sarpsborgveien along the state road 22 via Alvim and Fredrikstadveien/Rolvsøyveien along the provincial road 109.

There have been several serious traffic accidents in Eastern Norway in recent days due to slippery roads and difficult driving conditions.

Tuesday was around 10 cars involved in an accident on the E18 at Gulli, despite the driving conditions being something better than boxing day.

Traffic operator Turid Nymann in the east road traffic center tells VG that it is still wise to allow plenty of time and that people should drive according to the conditions.
