In India, at least 15 people have been injured when attacked by a leopard. The attack took place in the state of Assam in northeastern India and was captured on multiple videos.
In this video, the animal can be seen jumping over a fence and onto a passing van:
The leopard was spotted on the Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI) campus on the outskirts of Jorhat city, surrounded by woodland. It is suspected that the panther left the forest in search of food.
In the research institute, the leopard flew at the forest rangers. Other attacks targeted civilians, including two children, writes Times of India. The Jorhat Police Chief Inspector told ANI news agency that the wounded were taken to a local hospital and are out of danger.
Another video shows the leopard attacking a staffed all-terrain vehicle:
“The animal has become very aggressive. We have set traps on the campus to capture it. We are working hard to track it down,” a local forest ranger told the Times of India. The leopard should be sedated as soon as it is found.
Panther attacks are more common in India. Earlier this month, an 80-year-old woman bitten to death by a leopard when he ventured into the woods to graze cattle.
