Bakery counter BreadTalk in Indonesia one by one changed to MAKO. Its management under the auspices of the Johnny Andrean Group released shares of the franchised product from Singapore in 2019.

1. BreadTalk is 100% Singapore owned.
In 2019, PT Talkindo Selaksa Anugrah as manager of BreadTalk Indonesia under the auspices of Johnny Andrean Group released equity ownership of BreadTalk which is a franchise product of Singapore. BreadTalk has since been 100% owned by a Singaporean company.
2. Fate of employees
One of the BreadTalk outlets which changed to MAKO is at Gandaria City Mall, South Jakarta. The name change took place on December 23, 2022.
“BreadTalk here immediately replace this, then it’s gone (BreadTalk),” the MAKO employee said at Gandaria City Mall when met by detik.com on Tuesday (12/27/2022).
Some of the MAKO employees are said to have come from former BreadTalk groups, while others were recently hired. This means that BreadTalk employees affected by the brand name change are automatically hired at MAKO.
“(MAKO employees) are from BreadTalk, some are new. I’m new to MAKO,” he said.
There are still several BreadTalk outlets that haven’t changed to MAKO, one of which is at Bintaro Jaya XChange Mall. Even so, employees are hoping they can still be employed at the outlet.
“I don’t know (the fate of BreadTalk employees). Yes, we hope that the employees can continue to work here,” the BreadTalk employees at Bintaro Jaya XChange Mall hoped.
3. MAKO profile
According to the official MAKO website, the bread and cake brand is inspired by Japanese bakeries. He claims that his products have a high quality taste.
“MAKO is a new Japanese-inspired bakery and pastry shop with amazing pastries, breads, cakes and cookies,” the website states.
MAKO products are said to be made with premium quality natural ingredients. “Our products are nutritious, healthy and have consistent quality,” she said.
MAKO is under the auspices of PT Mako Anugerah Kreasindo. Different from BreadTalk which is under the auspices of PT Talkindo Selaksa Anugerah.
