Kottayam ∙ Confusion continues over the transfer of the post of municipal president of Pala from the Kerala Congress to the CPM. The agreement between CPM and Kerala Congress will expire on Wednesday. In today’s municipal council meeting, it was decided that the current municipal president, Anto Jose West, will step down. The CPM has not reached an agreement on who will serve as president.
There was no difference of opinion in the Kerala Congress on leaving the post from the first stage. But the difficulties in accepting the newcomer have been felt. About two months ago, there were differences of opinion about it. Party chairman Jose K. Mani said then that a decision can be made when the contract expires.
He also informed that he will not violate the agreement. A section of the Kerala Congress had lobbied, including Jose K. Mani, in favor of Binu Pulikalkandam. The possibility cannot be ruled out that Binu will be considered again for the office of municipal president.
