SEOUL – South Korea’s (South Korea) military readiness and training attitude are “sorely lacking”, as evidenced by North Korea’s (North Korea) recent drone strikes.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol acknowledged this during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday (12/27/2022).

“Seoul needs to improve its capabilities after the incident on Monday (26/12/2022),” the South Korean leader told ministers on Tuesday, according to Yonhap.

He said his country had realized “the danger of North Korea’s (DPRK) policy of relying on North Korea’s goodwill and military agreement.”

On Monday, the military said about five North Korean drones were detected in various parts of South Korea, including near Gyodong Island and between the cities of Gimpo and Paju.

One light military aircraft was lost during the response. The drone strike lasted for seven hours, according to local media.

President Yoon has promised to speed up the formation of drone units, which are expected to carry out reconnaissance operations against North Korea. “It will be deployed as much as possible,” he promised.

“Strengthen our surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities by introducing advanced stealth drones,” Yoon said.
