After many alleged delays, the Galaxy S21 FE was released in early January and so far there has been much uncertainty about its successor, with the most recent rumors casting doubt on its existence. The Galaxy S22 FE may not be dead as a new rumor says it’s coming soon. Rumors started circulating in March that the S22 FE would be powered by a MediaTek chipset. Later rumors claimed that the device was wiped and the lack of leaks also implied that Samsung was not working on the phone.
I worked on it in silence
Budding leaker @OreXda said we should expect the Galaxy S22 FE and Galaxy Buds 2 Live soon and the rumor is backed up by popular tipster Dohyun Kim. A few days ago, it was reported that Samsung would do away with the mid-range Galaxy A7x series and there would be no Galaxy A74. Separately, it was rumored that while Samsung was working on the Exynos 2300 chipset, it would not power the Galaxy S23 range.
Galaxy S22 FE replacing the Galaxy A74
All those rumors are now starting to make sense. @RGcloudS, who is also a new leaker, tweeted yesterday that the Galaxy S22 FE would replace the Galaxy A74. They also said the phone would be powered by the Exynos 2300 and come with a 108MP sensor. This would be a big step up from the Galaxy S21 FE, which has a 12MP main sensor, and could help the S22 FE become one of the best camera phones of 2023.
RGcloudS also suggested that the Galaxy S22 FE would cost roughly the same as the A73, which was only launched in a few countries with a price tag of around €500. For reference, the Galaxy S21 FE had a starting price of €700 .
It’s best to take these leaks with a generous helping of salt as we haven’t seen any concrete leaks on the Galaxy S22 FE so far and we all know that Samsung isn’t the best at keeping secrets.
