Foreign Minister Kuleba told the AP news agency. If possible, the summit should take place at the United Nations headquarters in New York. UN Secretary-General Guterres could act as a mediator. It’s about getting everyone involved. Kuleba therefore declined direct talks with Russia. Before they can negotiate with the state leadership in Moscow, they must answer to an international war crimes tribunal. But other states would be free to talk to Russia. Kremlin spokesman Peskov was initially dismissive.
Two weeks ago, President Zelenskyi promised a peace summit. The goal must therefore be, among other things, the restoration of territorial integrity, the withdrawal of Russian troops and security guarantees for Ukraine.
