The woman who was shot and killed in a pub outside Liverpool on Christmas Day night is named Elle Edwards, 26.
The murder shook Britain. Edwards was in a local pub in the Wirral with her sister and her friends when she was shot on the head just before midnight.
Friends tell Sky News who thought the shots were fireworks, before seeing the 26-year-old lying on the floor.
– He was so happy, we all had so much fun, they say in the evening.
In the UK, Christmas Eve is traditionally a night out, as Christmas is celebrated the following morning.
On the loose
Four other people were also injured, all young people. All of the gunshot victims were rushed to hospital immediately, but Edwards’ life was not saved. One of the others, a 28-year-old, is still in critical condition, according to the British channels.
Police believe the perpetrator disappeared in a dark car, possibly an A-Class Mercedes, shortly after the crime. He is still on the run.
The investigation is at an early stage, but police assume the 26-year-old was an accidental victim. The impression is that the perpetrator fired several shots at the entrance to the pub, for unknown reasons.
According to police, Edwards’ family are “devastated and inconsolable”.
The colleagues of the beauty salon where you worked send you the following greetings:
“Thank you for all the laughter and joy you have brought into our lives. Rest in heaven, dear angel.
– Good local community
The police want advice on the case. In particular, they want to get in touch with anyone who might have information about the car, which left the pub car park immediately after the shooting.
Angela Eagle, Labor MP for Wallasey, said she was devastated by the “outrageous” act. She describes the area as “a well established and good local community”.
– Police have stressed that the location where this happened has nothing to do with the action, and hope it will reassure frightened voters who have found themselves in the midst of this abhorrent tragedy, he tells Sky News.
