It can be a sign of arrogance and “unscrupulous” when you speak negatively about a work of art that everyone around you admires. This often makes you come across as a rude person who stands on their own, underestimates everyone, and makes fun of their opinions, and he thinks it is a consequence of his time, era and time.
Ever since the film “Glass Onion” was shown on “Netflix” on December 23, it has been at the forefront of the interest of social media followers, and most of the critics and those interested in the world of cinema in Egypt celebrated it. in fact, this celebration may seem logical, because the first part” Knives Out »was distinctive and fascinating, and perhaps this magical and entertaining world that the writer Rian Johnson managed to weave in the first edition, positively overshadowed the impression and opinion of the public in the second edition, so we sometimes deliberately neglect the bad things in our life, to keep a clear state of mind or image Idealism is about some things that are stuck in our minds and feelings.
But in fact, I want to disturb this mood and destroy this beautiful image, and adopt what came from the words of the hero of the second part, “Miles Bron”, which was embodied by Edward Norton: “If you want to make a radical change, break a rule, a pattern or a custom, but choose something boring.” People by him, they’re all going to get excited because you’re breaking this thing.”
And I want to break this work, in which its writer failed to create the same exciting world in the first version, as the film started with a promising, interesting and exciting start, then the writer almost forgot what he was writing, and it is came halfway through the film between moments of excitement, to retell the novel and reintroduce the characters Then he suddenly screwed up and ended the film with a childishness that disappointed me after wasting more than two hours watching a film no less epidemic of the epidemic of the period in which it was shot, which is the Corona period!
The story of the film Glass Onion.. A strong beginning and a childish ending
The film begins with the invitation of a group of wealthy friends to the island by tech billionaire Miles Brown “Edward Norton”, and since they are dabblers in solving mysteries, “Miles” asks them to solve the mystery of his imaginary murder during a dinner on the island.
Within seconds, veteran investigator Benoit Blanc “Daniel Craig” solves it and ruins the party and the whole game for the friends, so everyone decides to leave the island in the morning, but suddenly one of the friends dies and the electricity goes out. she shuts down the island, so another friend, ‘Andy’, is shot and everyone thinks she was killed. .
The film stops at this emotional moment, to start telling the story from the beginning and introduces us to the friends and their relationship with ‘Miles’, and how he exploits them all in his shady dealings, as we learn the mystery of ‘ Andy” is killed by “Miles”, so we know the shot was fired. It’s not Andy on the island, but her twin sister, Helen, and she’s hired veteran detective, Blank, to help solve her sister’s death.
And when the “flashback” ends, we see the friends reunited inside the mansion after their friend “Duke” was murdered, and the veteran investigator reveals the truth, which is that “Miles” is behind his killing after putting pineapple in his drink, because “Duke” suffers from a fatal allergy to pineapple.
Events speed up and Helen appears with her sister Andy’s handkerchief, proving her ownership rights to a great idea that Miles stole from her and then killed her, but the latter immediately burns the handkerchief proving her theft and pressures his friends not to put up with it. by Helen in court. In fact, they agree.
Here Helen asks Detective Blank for help, but he tells her there’s nothing left to do, then he gives her a hydrogen energy crystal invented by Miles, so she destroys the building and the entire island, and the film ends with the scene of the veteran detective and Helen sitting on the beach awaiting the arrival of the Greek police, thus achieving success in revenge and justice for her late sister!
Film Glass Onion.. This is how disappointed you will feel after watching it
There is no doubt that you will feel strange enjoyment in the first half of the film, because the idea started as exciting and interesting, but suddenly the writer and director steals this feeling from you, as if he is unable to complete his attractive idea.
For example, writer and director Rian Johnson continued throughout the film to refer to the Mona Lisa painting inside the palace, as if alerting us viewers to something intelligent that will happen through this painting, only to be surprised at the end that nothing will happen. through it and will eventually burn down like the rest of the palace’s contents.
There is something wrong with the film, which is that the team of Edward Norton, Daniel Craig, Kate Hudson, Dave Batista, Odom Jr. is completely heterogeneous, just bright and brilliant names in a boring job, as are their characters written are boring where you can’t touch any difference or contrast or even similarity.
The film may be just for entertainment, yes, but there are films in the same direction, which have excelled far, and have been shown on the same platform “Netflix”, and have achieved the pleasure of all viewers, the last of which is Dwayne Johnson’s film ‘The Red Notice’, and in comparison you will find how he achieved pleasure and achieved all the dramatic elements, drawing characters and understanding their motivations, as we see in ‘Glass Onion’ we are facing a work whose idea is exciting, but it was already drowned out by powerless plot strings, weak characters and a chaotic childish ending.
Screenwriter Rian Johnson definitely needs another writer in the next part, to help him create a compelling and complete storyline, able to amaze, because this type of film needs intelligent writing, not a “paper”, so closing and delivering in a hurry , because this Method seems to be a global phenomenon, as the last thing creators are thinking about right now is the audience!
