Former Zenit striker Sergei Dmitriev died on 26 December at the age of 59. reported press service of the St. Petersburg football club.
Dmitriev was born in Leningrad, at the age of 18 he made his debut in the main team of Zenit, after which he spent another eight years in the main team (with a break), winning the gold of the USSR championship and the Cup of the season.
During his career, Dmitriev also played for Moscow Dynamo, CSKA and Spartak, Tyumen, Svetogorets and Smolensk Kristall, played in the leagues of Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Israel and Germany.
Dmitriev is the champion of the USSR with CSKA (1991) and the champion of Russia with Spartak (1997).
In the USSR national team he played six matches and scored one goal.
After his playing career ended, he worked as a coach.
