MORES | 8x more misconduct reports in 2022 Average

MORES, the reporting center for abuse in the cultural and creative sector, has so far received a total of 389 reports of abuse across the cultural sector this year. This was announced by board member Amber de Vente on Monday. The number of reports registered in 2021 was just over 50 in total.

The number of reports has increased significantly following the announcement of the NGO’s major investigation into the culture of fear in the media world. The reports include television and radio programmes, but also other parts of the cultural sector such as the world of theater and cinema. MORES confidential counselors do not automatically share reports with NPOs or commercial channels, says De Vente.

“Journalists go directly to the hotline and are then called back by a confidential adviser,” he explains. “These tell reporters what the possible scenarios are. But ultimately the reporters determine what happens with their report. We as a board are completely outside of that and are never privy to reporters’ data.”

The NPO has a major investigation into behind-the-scenes misconduct The world goes on (DDD) announced. MORES has an advisory role in this research. RTL says it has not recently received any reports of misconduct. Talpa declined to say whether any concrete action has been taken after all the leaks DDD.
