Deployed Iskander tactical missile system and S-400 air defense system Russia in Belarus is now fully prepared to carry out the intended task. This was announced on Sunday (25/12) local time by a senior official of the Belarusian Defense Ministry.
“Our soldiers, crews have fully completed their training at the joint combat training center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic Belarus“Leonid Kasinsky, head of the Main Directorate of Ideology at Russia’s Defense Ministry, said in a video posted on the Telegram app. ReutersMonday (26/12/2022).
“These types of weapons (Iskander and S-400 systems) are in combat service today and are fully ready to perform the tasks for which they were intended,” Kasinsky added.
It is unclear how many Iskander systems – capable of carrying nuclear weapons – have been deployed in Belarus since the Russian president Vladimir Putin he said in June that Moscow would ship it to neighboring Ukraine.
The news comes amid mounting Russian pressure on Belarus for help invasion of Ukrainewhich has now been going on for about 10 months and still shows no sign of ending.
Russian troops used Belarus as a springboard for their assault on the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, in February. In recent months, there has been an increase in Russian military activity and Belarus.
