Every viewer of the cult film “Titanic” must have wondered at least once why the main character Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) did not get on the improvised raft next to Rose (Kate Winslet), thereby saving her life. But the mystery seems solved once and for all, writes BLITZ.
The film’s director, James Cameron, revealed that he did a scientific analysis and realized that only one person could survive there.
“We did a scientific study to stop this once and for all. “We did a thorough forensic analysis with a hypothermia expert who recreated the raft from the film,” Cameron revealed.
He further clarified the details of the analysis.
“We took two stuntmen with the same body weight as Kate and Leo. We put them in ice cold water with sensors all around them and in them and tested if they could survive using different methods. The answer was that there was no way they could both be alive. Only one person could make it out alive,” explains the director and then continues:
“Jack was about to die. They are like Romeo and Juliet. It is a film about love, sacrifice and death. Love is measured by sacrifice… Maybe in 25 years I won’t have to go through that anymore,” Cameron said.
He also announced that after the analysis he will make something “special” to show in February, when the 4K restoration of Titanic coincides with what is expected to show in theaters in 2023.
