Investigate the possibilities for nuclear power in Ågesta

If Stockholm’s energy supply is to be strengthened, a so-called SMR nuclear power plant in Ågesta, south of Stockholm, should be studied. This is the opinion of SD politicians Tobias Andersson, Gabriel Kroon and Felix Byström in a debate article in Svenska Dagbladet.

“Nuclear power has been, and should continue to be, a natural part of electricity generation. The advantages are many: production can be tailored to the needs of consumers, the share of land to be used is small and it does not require capacity of very extensive transmission in the electricity grid”, write the three.

Since there was previously a nuclear power plant in Ågesta, the situation should also be close to optimal for the new small modular nuclear reactors, argue the Sweden Democrats.

With their contribution to the debate, they want the city of Stockholm and the municipality of Huddinge to take the lead in examining the proposal.
