The tradition of having a Christmas tree came to Norway in the 19th century. The Christmas tree was then cleaned 13 or 20 days after Christmas Eve. That tradition is about to fall.
– We see a change. Where Christmas Eve marked the beginning of the Christmas season, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day now mark the end to a greater extent.
This is what Geir Thomas Risåsen, curator of the Norwegian Folk Museum says. He has studied Christmas traditions and is the only Christmas preserver we have in Norway.
