Former Uruguayan midfielder Fabian O’Neill died today at the age of 49. The cause of death was a stomach hemorrhage. Yesterday morning he was hospitalized for a chronic hepatoma and fell into a coma from which he never came out.
O’Neal is best known for playing for Juventus in the 2000/2001 season. He also defended the colors of Nacional, Cagliari and Perugia.
In 1993-2002 he played 19 matches and scored 2 goals for the Uruguay national team, with which he took part in the 2002 World Cup.
