ABU DHABI, December 25th / WAM / The Archives and the National Library concluded their 2022 cultural season with the symposium ‘Abu Dhabi’s Durat al-Madaen between the past and the present’, which confirmed that sustainable development is a trust brought by the leaders of the Emirates; And it went from the best predecessor to the best successor.

The symposium shed light on the capital of the UAE and the transformations and developments it has seen since 1962 AD, and after the first structural plan was drafted for it, and the development it has seen under its great leaders in terms of development in which the face of the earth turned from a dull yellow to a bright green, in which it enjoyed progress and prosperity, eventually becoming one of the model cities of the world.

The symposium, which was held in the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Hall for Virtual Reality at the National Archives and Library, was attended by Eng. The fort, the old market, the municipality building and others, such as the mosque and the church, confirm the tolerance that has prevailed in Abu Dhabi since ancient times, indicating that simplicity, kindness and compassion are the most highlights of Abu Dhabi, past and present.

The symposium confirmed that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, was the chief designer of the Union capital. he was farsighted; As he rushed into a race against time to change the face of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, where “may God have mercy on him” he had leadership qualities that made him work hard to achieve the great aspirations of his people, so in 1964 he expressed his desire and ambition for the establishment of the federation. Under the leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed, Abu Dhabi began to be filled with residences and towers and tall buildings, in which ports, airports, markets, shopping malls, mosques, schools, universities, hospitals and health centers were established.

The speaker spoke about the six stages of the development of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the stage before the discovery of oil, the introductory stage and the establishment stage which started in 1966 when the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest the his soul at peace”, assumed the emirate’s rule, the planning phase under the full supervision of the government and the expansion phase Horizontal and vertical urban planning and the comprehensive urban planning phase 2007-2030, when the Planning Council urban area of ​​Abu Dhabi has been established.
