Police dive for loot in the Berlin Canal

Twenty police divers from all over Germany are searching Berlin for further evidence of the great jewelry robbery in Dresden.

Large-scale operation on Boxing Day: In order to support the investigation into the burglary in the Green Vault in Dresden, the police are searching for evidence in the Berlin district of Neukölln. The police in charge of the case in Saxony announced this on Sunday.

Since Sunday morning, a total of twenty police divers from different federal states have been searching the Landwehr canal in Kiehlufer near Treptower Straße for evidence. At the same time, emergency agents secure the surrounding area. “The measures will take some time,” police sources said.

Most of the jewels have been returned

No further information is currently available in order not to interrupt the investigation. “This currently also includes the results of search measures,” the Saxony police department responsible for the case wrote on Sunday.
