Pelé’s family celebrated Christmas at the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo. Daughter Kely Nascimento posted a photo at dawn today with the family together, but citing Pelé’s absence in the image: “Almost everyone.” Pelé is anesthetized as part of the palliative treatment.
“Almost everyone. Merry Christmas. Gratitude, love, togetherness, family. The essence of Christmas. We thank you all for all the love and light you send. In this crazy and amazing life, I would be nothing without them.” Kely wrote in the caption of the photo posted on Instagram. The image was shared by Flávia Arantes do Nascimento, Kely’s sister.
The movement in the King’s room intensified on Christmas Eve: the family – children and grandchildren – arrived all day long, each from a different corner of Brazil, to spend Christmas with him.
Son Edinho, coach of Londrina, was the most awaited from the people waiting outside the hospital for any sign of novelty. Edinho had left Paraná on Friday (23) to join his family in the hospital and arrived on the spot yesterday afternoon (24).

On Friday night, daughter Kely posted a photo in her father’s arms, in “another night together,” as she said in the caption. Pele was hospitalized on November 29 to reevaluate his chemotherapy treatment.

Santos changes uniform
Santos will change the team uniform in honor of Pelé.
- For the 2023 season, Santos’ coat will have a crown above the shield.
- The information was confirmed by the president of the deliberative council of the club, Celso Jatene.
- The change of the uniform in honor of the King is foreseen by the New Statute, approved by the Council itself and by the members of the club.
