There will be no trains in Britain at Christmas due to a railway strike

Thousands of railway workers go on strike in Britain from Saturday to Tuesday, so there will be no trains running on Christmas Day.

The strike is organized by the railway, shipping and transport workers’ union (RMT), which is demanding higher wages and better working conditions.

The operator of the railway network “Network Rail” communicates that the trains will stop running on Saturday at approximately 15.00. The last trains on some long-distance routes depart before 1pm.

Usually, in the afternoon and early evening of December 24, there are many passengers on the trains who go to relatives to celebrate Christmas.

More traffic jams are expected on Saturday due to the railway strike.

On December 25, the first Christmas, public transport in Great Britain does not operate. It usually resumes service on December 26, the second Christmas, however the number of flights is very limited. This year, due to the strike, there will be no train services even on Christmas Eve.
