Former US President Donald Trump is responsible for the assault on Congress. This is the conclusion of the commission’s report of 6 January. The committee investigated the riot for 17 months. It does not have the authority to order prosecutions, but it can send a recommendation to the Ministry of Justice. And the commission makes that clear.
The conclusion is not difficult to obtain. The hearings this summer painted a grim picture of Trump. His long whining about the “stolen” election wasn’t just some poor loser’s rant. It was an attempt to overturn the election results.
